Finalists

The Pokemon Video Game World Championships 2010 is an invite-only event, open to a limited number of participants. A total of 49 invitations are available in each age division, which are distributed in the following manner:

The 2009 Pokémon Video Game World Champion
The top 8 players at the Japanese National Championships
The top 16 players at the U.S. National Championships
The top 4 players at the UK World Championships Qualifier
The top 4 players at the German World Championships Qualifier
The top 4 players at the French World Championships Qualifier
The top 4 players at the Spanish World Championships Qualifier
The top 8 players at the World Championships Last Chance Qualifier

Pokemon Video Game World Championships 2010 Rules:

Senior Division: Born in 1997 or earlier; Junior Division: Born in 1998 or later
Pokemon’s levels are set to 50 (Pokemon below 50 won’t auto-level-up).
the player will choose 4 Pokemon from his registered party of up to 6 pokemon in a double battle.
the player may choose 4 items from his registered set of 6 items.
Only one instance of a Pokemon species and item in the team (no repeat Pokemon and item)
the following item can not be used: Soul Dew
the following Pokemon can not be used: 151 – Mew, 251 – Celebi, 385 – Jirachi, 386 – Deoxys, 489 – Phione, 490 – Manaphy, 491 – Darkrai, 492 – Shaymin, 493 – Arceus

Event Pokemon

One shiny Eevee event pokemon per person was given out to attendees, participants and spectators alike. Requirements were: one Nintendo DS, one copy of Pokemon HeartGold or Pokemon SoulSilver Version, have acquired the Pokedex, have no more than two Wonder Cards in the inventory.

1st Place:

A World Championships 1st Place Trophy
A customized Pokémon Nintendo DSi™ XL!
Airfare and 4-day/3-night hotel accommodations for the winner (including parent or legal guardian for players under 18) to attend the 2011 World Championships
An invite to participate in the 2011 World Championships
A trip for four to Tokyo, New York, or Oahu, including airfare and 6-day/5-night accommodations
Additional Pokémon items

2nd Place:

A World Championships 2nd Place Trophy
A customized Pokémon Nintendo DSi XL!
Airfare and 4-day/3-night hotel accommodations for the winner (including parent or legal guardian for players under 18) to attend the 2011 World Championships
