The first two games in The Elder Scrolls series, Arena and Daggerfall were released to the public for free. They started the game world used in the widely popular modern games Morrowind and Oblivion.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena was released to the public for free in 2004 in celebration of 10 years of The Elder Scrolls series. The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall followed and became a free game on July 9, 2009.
